Title: Build 18
Post by: jitspoe on May 08, 2007, 01:31:38 AM
till some work to do on the web side of things, but I think the client is ready.

Note: Servers will need to add "setmaster dplogin.com" to their config files in order to show up in the list.  When the public release is made, the current serverlist method will be removed and servers without this config will cease to show up on the list.

Edit: It's official now, you can grab build 18 from the files page: http://digitalpaint.planetquake.gamespy.com/files/

Oh sweet. build 18
Most of the changes from what I understand are in the way that it handles data and networking, so it's not a lot of cosmetics.. I do like the 30 second timeout though.

It's not a bug.  I'm just changing the way the server list system works.

..and the current accounts are going to be deleted when the official build 18 release is done?
Yes.  Well, technically, I'm just going to switch over to the "live" database from the test one.  The old data will still exist, but effectively it will be gone.

kNoC: It looks like you don't have your profile selected.  Try clicking on it then logging in again.  If that doesn't work, check the console for errors.

I see one major bug so far:  If you try to connect to a server or load a map from the command line or an external program with autologin enabled, the menu stays on the screen.

Is the new Loading-Screen bigger ?

Probably.  It was completely redone in build 17.

Build 18 is mainly fixes for build 17.  Nothing but major bugs will be fixed for the final.  If there aren't any, this is what you get.  New features will be added in future versions.

New features will be added in future versions.

So you are saying like build 19 probably for new features.
Title: Re: Build 18 "pre-test"
Post by: nightryder on May 09, 2007, 03:38:21 PM
i think that was his plan all along. i think he wanted to get the global login finished and after that was done, the next version would address the features that are in the feature vote thread.

Post by: jitspoe on May 09, 2007, 11:35:43 PM
http://dplogin.com/files/clients/windows/paintball2_build018_update_pretest2.exe -- installer version.  The only thing that's changed is that I fixed the bug where the menu is stuck on with autologin while loading a map or connecting to a server from the command line (or external server browser).  If that looks good, I'll get the linux version together and put out an official release.
Title: Re: Build 18 "pre-test"

Note: Servers will need to add "setmaster dplogin.com" to their config files in order to show up in the list.

I added the said line into the config where "setmaster q2master.planetquake.com" and "setmaster master0.gamespy.com" are and my server is not showing up in build18. I just wanted to make sure that I added this to the right place and if I did what is the problem.
Title: Re: Build 18 "pre-test"
Post by: kNoC on May 11, 2007, 10:44:49 AM
ive also noticed build018_pretest2 loads a hell of alot faster than build017_pretest3 or even buil016_final. build018_pretest2 loads in about 1, maybe even 1.5 seconds...

dunno what you did, but id figure id tell you 8^)
good job and good luck!
Title: Re: Build 18 "pre-test"
Post by: jitspoe on May 11, 2007, 10:58:35 AM
KiLo: Did you re-execute the config?  Try typing "setmaster dplogin.com" right at the server console.

I've put together a full install: http://dplogin.com/files/clients/windows/paintball2_build018_full_pretest2.exe

I noticed after a fresh install that it was doing the same thing kNoC had a problem with.  I guess I need to put in a check that requires you to have a profile selected before you can attempt to log in.  I think I'll worry about that in a later version, though (hint: vote for it).

Linux version is about done, I think.  I'm heading home this weekend, so the official release probably won't be until next week.

I did re-execute and even restart. But I will try typing it in the server console when I get home.

For a quick check to see if your IP got added, visit http://dplogin.com/serverlist_new.php

setmaster dplogin.com worked perfectly when i typed it in the console. My IP is on the list.
Everytime the server heartbeats now it says the following:

[14:53:41] Sending heartbeat to 192.246.40.37:27900
[14:53:41] Sending heartbeat to 70.85.9.178:27900
[14:53:41] NET_GetPacket: WSAECONNRESET from 192.246.40.37:27900
[14:53:41] bad connectionless packet from 70.85.9.178:27900:
svheartbeatresponse

Don't know if this is a problem or not although it looks like it.

Works all. OTB Servers are in the list now.

Doesn't look like they are on there now.

That's just the serverlist letting the server know it got the heartbeat.  The old version of the game doesn't know what to do with it.  Just ignore it.

No password reset option yet (you might want to vote for that: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=5060.0).  A bit more work and testing to do on the current database and it's going to be reset anyway, though.

try doing it per rcon.

it should give you the following output:
Code: [Select]
setmaster dplogin.com
Master server at 70.85.9.178:27900
Sending a ping.

edit:
you may have to reexecute the config file if you just add it to the config file. -> exec xxx.cfg

Alternatively restart the server.

hmm I might have found a bug:  when I started a new game with build 18 (a listen server, not a dedicated server) to hop around a map with a few bots in it, the game would lock up every once in a while (maybe once or twice a minute) for like 5-10 seconds and the continue.

Win XP, build18, multiple maps, GLS off

This might have something to do with the file validation.  I probably need to put it in a separate thread or something.
Title: Re: Build 18
Post by: b00nlander on May 16, 2007, 03:40:17 PM
Maybe it came out unclear:  it does not happen when I join a dedicated game hosted wherever, but only when I start a listen server.  So video drivers won't have anything to do with that. I provided all information I thought to be necessary for him.

My config looked like this:

Why i was kicked, if i use the clantag without a name?

[OTB]T3RR0R15T works, [OTB] not :(

Can u make an option to add a secound clantag for a clan? So that nobody can run as [OTB-A] ? OTB-A's are the OTB-Trials.

And an option to be in 2 clans would be cool. 1 real clan an 1 funclan.

You can't use a blank name (with or without a clan tag).  Why would you want to?

And aren't all clans supposed to be "fun"?  I don't think allowing double clanning is a good idea.  Perhaps at some point if there are multiple leagues or divisions I could set up clans to be league-based, but with a community this size, I don't think that will be necessary.

Because than i can play without so spammed my name all the time, if he want somethink from me. I often play only with [OTB]. Together with other OTB's.
Multiple leagues or divisions sounds good. Maybe it was fine. Example: Chef-Killer (MeMi) and i (OTB) play together in the "DPGer 2on2 Liga". Some other players too.
