i was wondering if low fps affects your jumps because i get fps in the 20-30 plz reply and if there is away to fix it?
-
30ish fps will help you with triple jumps..
-
it depends.... yea for like a ladder jump or something like tht on a jump map it will make it easier n stafing can b easier but everything will get choppy
-
In short, yes. And get a better computer.
-
i knew nothing of fps till a few months back but ive heard that lower fps helps with triple jumps but i was so used to doing it on my default (200+) fps that it only seems to hurt instead of help when i lower my fps
-
so jits u mean like not as far and/or not as high???
-
Depends. But at 20fps, I think you have more to be concerned about than how high you can jump...
-
like what the game runs fine it isnt choppy i barly ever lag / laggout there is just some really easy jumps that i cant do... like in pp1 from the barles to the window i cant jump that high...
-
rofl that must suck
use the way i showed you
-
i cant only did it once... i did high bd jump from ice more times then i did the barrels to window jump...
-
I only get 30-40 fps. I can djump just fine. I don't lag. My Alienware fried on me playing COD2 and needs a new processor, so I use a laptop w/ mouse. :-\
-
I disapprove of any pre-assembled gaming computers.
-
Same here. Eiii knows his stuff.
-
I don't lag.
That would mean you play on servers... And according to this... http://dpball.com/forums/index.php?topic=3015.0 well... You're banned.
(Unless you where talking about graphics lag :P )

Tell us what you do approve of please.
-
Gaming computers that are custom-built.
EDIT: Oh, and cows.
-
Custom-built with what and why?
*so Gateways are ok. Moo?
-
With parts. That you buy.
And lol, that's not what I meant by cows. Now that I've built my own computer sucessfully I can look down upon those who's computer comes already put together (for the most part) and is for gaming purposes.
...because they're INFERIOR.

all my rigs were custom built until I bought this Moo. I have no complaints other than dumping all 3rd party software and cleaning out my msconfig.
FYI the only hardware difference is Moo came with 2gigs or ram. Wants specs?
Plus its backed up with a replacement warranty. ;)
-
I've got a dell.
-
Wants specs?
Want MY FACE?!

Yeah...?

You heard me...

LMAO

LMFAO
You guys are so badass.
-
I don't get how their quotes were funny.
Please explain.
-
yeah 30fps totally is good for water jumps too...lmao
-
Yeah, apparently it is. What's funny?
-
You lost me? Is your fps a factor when jumping. You can start with YES or NO.
-
In short, yes.
Come on, loial21, you just basically asked what this whole thread was about.
-
whats the command to limit your fps cl_maxfps <number> ???
-
Yep.
cl_maxfps <#>
-
More important is cl_cmdrate, which controls how many packets/second are sent to the server. Quake2 tied the packets and frames together, but paintball2 separates them a bit.
If you're getting 200 fps and your cl_cmdrate is 60, you will be sending 60 packets a second. If you're getting 60fps and your cl_cmdrate is 60, you will be sending 60 packets a second. If you're getting 30fps and your cl_cmdrate is 60, you will be sending 30 packets/second (you can't currently send more packets than your framerate).
-
so it would be a good idea to set those both at the same number then??
-
No. You will likely miss the timing on your packets and not get a consistent packet rate. The default settings should work fine, but if you want to have your framerate consistent with your packet rate, set cl_locknetfps to 1.
-
mines cl_maxfps 0 and cl_cmdrate 80
also use:
cl_sleep 0
cl_locknetfps 0
-
wtf is cl_sleep
-
In short, yes.
Come on, loial21, you just basically asked what this whole thredsad was about.
Guilty of missing that quote completely!
Bah!
That was not my intention.
I was trying to refocus the attention back to the topic. Looked like it worked. I was also hoping for a detailed reason how it helped. Got that. Thanks for taking the time on explain.
Mission Accomplished.
I have a question about this, I will pm you later about this as its 8 year old hearsay.
-
More like cl_sleep 1, so Paintball doesn't consume all of your CPU.
-
cl_sleep # gives your CPU a "rest" for # ms, so it either doesn't have as much usage or it can run other processes. I mostly have it in there so it doesn't hog up all the CPU while I'm trying to debug.
-
so what would be a good number
-
0 if you want the highest framerate. 1 if you want more CPU for other applications. Higher numbers make it laggy.
-
OK thank you
