This file contains mapshots from my own folder « maps » (1250 maps - 640x480) , put them into pball/pics/mapshots for them to be shown in "start new game" . (i guess you know how it works)
This pack is incomplete, however it covers most of known maps, excluding many jump maps that I don't have but it’s a good start , it’s up to you .
1) When there were variations : ex : airtime 1 , 2 , etc i tried to take the same « angle »
2) When I had the final map and the betas I took the sshot of the final map
3) When i when i didn't have the final map i took a sshot of a beta map
4) When the map was completely unfinished (or had a Big bug) i didn’t take the sshot
5) I used the originals textures and when the map had NO textures i didn’t take the sshot
ps : There are many 2nd shots (for 12 maps) if you want to change them , and i replaced the originals mapshots of Jump and NHB .

Wouldn't it be possible to download the mapshot when downloading a map?

I believe this would require either mapmaker's or jitspoe's implementation.

Yes, it should be possible for a mapmaker with the requiredfiles key, if the server have the mapshot. But I can't tell you any map where this practice is used at the moment
Nice pif, thanks for the effort. Is there a possibility to make subdirectories like beta, jump, ... ?

It's possible , you can create by yourself sub-folders but there is only one file "mapslist" and only one file "mapshots" so in the end if you create sub-folders it will not appear in start new game. The only way is to rename the maps and the sshots . ex instead of writing daylight_b1 you can write beta_daylight, same for the sshot ; then all your betas will appear at the letter B , same for jumps but it's quiet long .

there was a topic in a previous thread that was talking about load screens. maybe we can have a load screen with the screen shot of the map overlaid with the motd.

Hi everyone , i just wanted to update this file .
Here u will find + 219 mapshots to put in your own file "mapshots",maps come from the OTB FTP server (thanks for them) .
-There are many mapshots from jumpmaps but it wasn't my priority , no mapshots from beta maps , only from completed maps .
-When i took the pictures i used textures by default , therefore sometimes a few textures are missing .

EDIT1: Is there a reason why you used an other resolution for this mapshots?
