Hi,
There's new map from a mapmaker Sibi (sBi). He requested me to put this here 'cause he's not experienced in using this forum.

Here's it:
It's kinda small map. I guess for 2vs2's. 1 flag on each side.

Sry for doublepost but I didn't want to mix my opinion with the presentation.

I think that this map is too icy and speedy. Also thing i don't like is just one access to mid = hard lining.
This map is also called "space" and I can't see a space sky.

Anyway, it doesn't look that bad as it's his first map he decided to post here.

i know... it´s my first map, i havent a more practise with bsp, i try to make ... other version this map will good
space... no galaxy, but i mean as place
and add new comment, because i need more practise

I had time to check it, actually it looks playable. But, I've noticed few things :
- Ice. This map is probably going to be a little tatras since you can access to enemy's flag by only taking ice (base ice - mid ice - enemy's base ice).
- A bit campable but, it's a bit risky to camp and a bit risky to try flag. So i wouldn't take this as a bad point.
- The mid is not that easy to line, so I don't agree with you , Abnormal. The mid is open and it's easy to dodge the line.
- Some boxes look weird. They're sometimes cut by a half or so. You might maybe use something different as ramp. Maybe a mettalic thing, but not the same as the floor though.
- And yes, nothing about "space" here.
- Put another way. The mid one isn't enough. Maybe make some way from the two white arrows that are in front of the shields to main maybe.

Otherwise, it looks nice as a first map. Hope this will be continued and be nice.

i agree 100% with scars. tho you could make it so that you can crouch to mid from the little window next to the mid entrance. Did you use sun light? Because all the the shadows are really pale, and you have lot of lights which i think you've used for lighting. Also the flame thing looks really odd.

 anyway i think the map is too much icy and speedy as abnormal said ...

+1 is for ur map making but the big "-" for ideas to speedjumps .. i havent see for while the map without ice .. ehm .. theres "oslo.bsp , and jinious.bsp from me :P"

i dont know, why u dont like ice maps ? its my idea about map.... this map is very easy and speedy for all... but abnormal said me, mid in my map need other maybe slower way, cause it very easy for nade kiling and lining from window, i will make hight way under ice in mid ... maybe glases in windows ?? what you think about my idea ?

ehm , so .. the map is not VISed well as u can see in my scrnshoots .. and about ice , its almost impossible to hit any with speed 140 i can go throw lines aswell . aaaand yes , its easy but too much easy for all when theres 50%of ways made from ice u dont even need to have any skill to play "that" ;)

It is so stupid map and it is on servers and any players like this... but OK... i am remaking mid , cause more players and mapmaker wrote anything about this ... and thx i want to be good mapmaker as more of you .... and again i thanks for yours reminds ...

hehe , i guess dhemap is annoying but the gameplay goes well ... "any players" i think that means czt & nani feat jano likes it and also baz likes too =D .... and every 1 done map is uploaded on servers ....


well u should remake mid thats right i hope ur map goes well ;)

The r_speeds are not bad, 2300 is DECENT jitspoe likes to get stuff in your head, with these new computers these days no higher than 4000 should do

Reminds me just a bit of my own map with the indicators on the walls. O.o

Other than that, I agree the gameplay seems like it would be quite quick what with all the ice. Also, with the lighting job you did, it kinda looks unlit.  :-\

ehm , dotn forget this game is from the year 98 so its not built to play on 1gb graph card also if ppls has super mega comp they wont play this game but something like BF2 codMW2 or stg like that ... imo

Actually i've got a very good pc (4GB of RAM and a recent graphic card), and I play this game. Though it's just about if you try a game, and like it, you keep playing it, and won't quit it.

wpoly is the world polygon count (your map).  epoly is the entity polygon count.  You want to keep wpoly as low as possible, like under 1000.  Epoly isn't as critical, but if it's really high then you probably have too many entities in one location.  You can reduce this by spawning players with equipment (but don't spawn everyone with autos -- that just sucks).

My guess is that high epoly is the same as high wpoly, it'll just make you lag.

I think he meant something like in pp1 when you press "w" when the round begins and you don't grab the gun sometimes.

The map flows well (maybe TOO well?).  The lighting is a bit too bright and uniform.  The crates look a little bit out of place (but I guess we don't have any metal crates that would fit the theme), and the wooden ladders look really out of place -- I'd just make those metal.

I'd make the bases a little taller - it could be really annoying to not get a capture when you jumped over the base and were just a few inches above the trigger.

I'm not sure what you were going for with the fire pyramid things, but they look weird.

With a few tweaks, this could probably be a popular and good looking map.  I've put the beta in rotation on the ev1 beta server.
