The only link you'll ever need (http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Main_Page).
Has anyone else experienced this wonderful life-eater of a game? If not, I'd really really suggest you check it out. It's easily the deepest and most awesome game I've ever played. Ever. Incredibly steep learning curve, but it's totally worth it.

Okay, so the lack of response to this thread is disappointing. Really guys, it's the best game ever. Invest a couple hours, you'll have a blast.

Whoa, I didn't see this before.

That title is misleading. It stated "Men Without Hats", but several men in that video were clearly wearing hats. I want my 5 minutes back.

So I finally started playing this because my coworker kept talking about it. Crazy time sink. My fortress was invaded and I lost all but two dwarves, then later lost one of the two when I thought it was safe to send him outside. It took a long time before migrants dared make the trek, but I'm up to 91 dwarves now and have over 200 animals (mostly horses and donkeys, but I have tamed grizzly bears, cougars, wolves, birds, a large roach, and a bunch of other stuff, too). My trade depot is a bit of a death trap. Any time the elves come, I just go inside and lock the doors and let the goblins tear them up, then get all their stuff for free, lol.

There's a new release out. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, though.

Wow, I wish I had kept up with this thread more :D New release has a lot of cool features, but is pretty buggy at the moment. Dwarves that perform surgery, much more detailed combat (and cooler injuries that can result), better army management, a few tools to macro-manage your dwarves... and, among the bugs, rain that boils when it hits any living thing and (probably) kills them.
If anyone's looking to get into it now, I'd hold off for a few months until a less-buggy version is out.
