Here are the high resolution textures everyone's been screaming about.
I use them and it makes the game look so much more amazing!!!
Here's the readme file included in the zip.
Don't be a dumb a$$...read it.
High Definition DigitalPaint
This is the first test set of high resolution textures for Digitalpaint 2.0 alpha 6, installation is pretty simple...
1. unzip all files to a temporary directory
2. create a folder called "hr4" in "paintball2/pball/textures/pball"
3. move all the files there
4. start dp 2.0 alpha 6 or later
5. at the console type "gl_highres_textures 1" then "vid_restart"
6. load up palmtreea.bsp and drool :)
notes...
a. If you had the eariler release of this delete the hddp folder from pball/textures/ and delete hddp.txt from pball/scripts.
b. The system will use the older textures where there are ones missing from this set, so you won't have any blank areas or anything like that.

PS: HELP!!! There are a lot of textures left to do still so if you would like to help send me an email or look for me in #paintball on irc.enterthegame.com.
PPS: Special thanks to Jitspoe for keeping this going and acommidating my craziness.

(B) Set gl_highres_textures to 1.
(C) Vid_restart.
(D) All of the above.

let me guess.. the pack is named high resolution textures
maybe the new textures got a better resolution? :P
-
just start roundup.bsp... you will find that 3 or 4 of the barrels in each base look a lot better than the other ones....
-
hmm... all the same
-
You guys are definitly doing something wrong. For some reason, alll the textures are scaled down a ton.
EDIT: If you read the readme, you might install it RIGHT. I figured out what you guys were doing. You were putting the textures from pball into pball/hr4. Uninstall them, and reeeead the readme.
EDIT AGAIN: By 'you guys', I meant Pimp.
-
I did it right, and everything is well, theyre just nothing special (I think)
-
all the hr4-textures are in this folder: paintball2\pball\textures\pball\hr4
I think thats right?
and not all are scaled done, but the most...
-
Yes, that's where you put them, but from the screenshots above, you seem to have put ALL of pball/textures/pball into pball/textures/pball/hr4.
-
sup folks...hate to keep whipping a dead horse but does anyone know where i could possibly get this texture pack?
i had them a while back and was really wanting them again. new comp...had to start from scratch again ...bummer huh? thanks in advance

I've got a backup copy of that zip should anyone have trouble finding it.
-
freud's r4 textures are way oversized and his barrels look like crap... if casso, you would upload fourthx's that may be more appealing to him.

that's where i downloaded them from, either i had a bad download or his textures were way oversized and his barrels looked like crap.

i know where to put them, and i have them as of now... i was just pointing out that his were way oversized.
-
thanks, you guys are alright (=
-
As Gremlin said, I hate to be whipping up a dead horse, but do you put the hr4 textures in the pball folder or do you only put the hr4 textures in the hr4 folder or do you put all the textures in the hr4 folder. Also, when i did the gl_highres_textures 1 thing and did the vid restart nothing changed.
-
Hr4 textures go to the hr4 folder and normal textures stay where they are. And when you do it right, the game look less ugly.
-
They need to be in the hr4 folder only.

Link doesn't work another link...
-
Nice, trying them right now.

To JeeJee (and anyone else who wants to answer. Ummm... When my hr4 textures in the the hr4 folder (i unzipped the zipped folder into the hr4 folder, the folder started with nothing in it til i unzipped it) and I did everything else (the gl_highres_textures 1, vid_restart) and nothing changed.
-
Well when i did mine, they wouldnt work in the folder either, so i just put it in the root directory, i say try putting in the pball folder, you go textures and pball and put there
-
ok. Did that work well for you?
-

The files need to be in the hr4 folder. Another folder in the hr4 folder doesn't work.
Where is ur hr4 folder? It should be: c:/games/paintball2/pball/textures/pball/hr4/
-
yeah it was but it still didnt work
-
ok. Did that work well for you?
yep it worked, i suggest you try it
-
It didnt work 4 meh.
-
It didnt work 4 meh.
make sure there "NOT" in a folder, all the files are in pball and not in a folder so that they replace or are near the current normal textures...
-
ok. Should i delete the old ones and maybe type gl_highres_textures 0
-
ok. Should i delete the old ones and maybe type gl_highres_textures 0
overwrite what it needs to, dont delete anything, just overwrite when it asks for yes or no, select yes to all, and you should be fine, then type gl_highres_textures 1 and then vid_restart
-
So I take those out of the Hr4 folder and put it in C:\Paintball2\textures\pball and type gl_highres_textures 1 and then vid_restart even when they arent in the Hr4 folder?
-
Oops I screwed up the file info. it should be C:\Games\Paintball2\pball\textures\pball
-
Dude, when you unzip the file, you get hr4 folder. You put that folder into C:\Games\Paintball2\pball\textures\pball and then type gl_highres_textures 1 and vid_restart. Shouldn't be that hard.
-
I know but I did that and it didn't work. Should I like... delete all of my other textures and then do it again or should I leave the textures where they are and just do it?
-
You don't need to delete anything if you're doing it right
-
OK. Should I keep the Hr4 textures that I already put in the pball folder (not in the Hr4 folder) or not?
-
Do what i said............
-
Robbie, no offense but I would take JeeJee's word over yours because JeeJee is x10 more experienced than you are.

I would really like to know how, maybe at mapping he is better, but i have been here 3x longer then him. I know what worked for me, i really like to know how he is 10x more experienced that is really funny, pheeks if you dont wanna get it working then dont listen to me.
-
QuickReply. I still would prefer JeeJee's opinion over yours but w.e

Do not do that. Wouldn't that be modified content?
-
Lol I just did what JeeJee said :-D It still doesnt work though.
-
BTW, how do you upload screenshots? I've taken some and idk how to update them :D
-

Nah, Works for me, i get no warning, im not banned, and it offers not advantage,

id tell you, but u should ask jee jee, he is way more experienced
-
It's easy to upload screenshots.
1. Make sure your screenshots have unique names. Not Sshot001.jpg or anything like that. Name it after your map if it's a screenshot of your map.
2. Go to a thread you want to add your screenshots to.
3. Start a new reply. Do NOT use quick reply, you won't be able to add attachments that way.
4. Scroll down a bit and click "Additional Options..."
5. Click "Browse..." and select your screenshot.
6. If you want to attach multiple screenshots, click more attachments and repeat 5.
7. POST! (Make sure you fill out everything else first though.)
And just in case you can't find these screenshots, they are all located in your Paintball folder under "Paintball2/pball/screenshots". To take a screenshot in game, the default button is F12.

When you wallhack you don't get a warning. I also believe that Jitspoe can detect when you change the normal pball textures. I'm not saying this would actually be considered 'modified content'.
Do it the right way and don't make more hassle for Jitspoe.
-
It's true, Robbie. In case you haven't noticed, every time you make a map, your textures are screwed up. It's because you didn't put your textures in the right place. End up, a lot of us see the grid texture when looking at your maps.
I don't think that would be "Modified Content" either. More like "Noob Setup".

Alot of times for me this site won't upload my screenshots. If it won't upload for you I've found www.tinypic.com to be very useful, you simply browse and find the screenshot, then copy the 2nd link it gives you and paste it here.
-
To the OTB admins: please change the instructions in the ReadMe.txt and LiesMich.txt as they have incorrect instructions relating to where to extract the files.
-
Musickid- When I take a screenshot it automatically takes it and saves the file as sshot###.jpg. Yesterday, I asked RiMiNi how to do it and he said there should be a folder named something like "scrnshot" inside C:\Games\Painball2\pball, which I don't have.

I've found that whenever I upload images (not necessarily map shots) to this site I have to wait about 30 second or more for each picture. I then just leave the tab open and wait.
-
I know but do you have a folder called like... scrnshot though?
-
Btw, is there a zip folder for all the textures you get with the normal dp2 download? I deleted all of mine in the pball folder b.c I was too lazy to tell which were hr4 or not b.c i used robbie's idea first (that didnt work).
-
Yes, there is.

Done.

Yes, there is.

dude, seriously. That was a post of 2006, which is meanwhile almost 5 years ago. I bet you probably couldn't even spell your name at that date.
Can you not check the date of the last post before opening an old thread and play the smart guy?

great, now practice on the dates in threads and posts. After the recent development you've gone trough, I feel like one day you'll be ready for the next step in your life.

What's wrong with old threads? Maybe they have interesting stuff in them like links to some nice HD textures.

Yes. really. With these new HD textures. This game's graphics almost rival's Halo 1's.

Do you ask your friends what you discussed on the 23rd of September 2003 15.17h as well? If no, you now know what's wrong with reviving old threads. If yes, get a life.
If a discussion is no longer active, this means nobody gives a S anymore. Therefore don't bother posting in those discussions.

Also, someone needs to work on sensing sarcasm. I lol'd so much at reading your responses to Ricky.
