I've been playing this game for a year now and i've got the shooting pretty much under control.
It took me 5 days to shoot anything at all after i introduced the "change hands when stepping left/right" binds but that ok now too.
But i can't jump at all, maybe it's because i'm white (white men can't jump) or maybe i'm just doing something wrong, i just keep bouncing into objects before i get any height.
Help!

You just have to practice at it. Watch the patterns other people use when jumping, and try to mimic them until you get the hang of it. Also if you turn slightly in the direction you're strafing (ie: slowly rotate right while strafing right), it will make you accelerate more. You can get a better feeling for it while playing on a map with ice. It's not exactly the same, but it should give you the idea.

I am on a self ban. :) Untill then.

First good hint, thanks.

I have it bound to F. A = left, S = forward, D = right, F = jump. All on the home row so I don't have to move my fingers or position them awkwardly to do the most common movements.
My config is weird, though. I doubt most people could use it.

Yeah, don't do that. Personally, I use ,aoe.

Any examples of a good map with ice to learn from?

hello @ all,
I would have there sometimes ne asks to you!!!!!! how I can make my name different. Thus brightly or in such a way because I is to be played now already what longer, besides, this play. Dignity me please very much if to me somebody would help mfg Simon :)
-
type "menu setup_funname" in the console while in the game to get a colored and/or bright name. I didn't really get the rest of what you said o_O. (sounds like loial)
Jumping will get easier with practice, I can finally do double jumps with ease.
edit: I said exactly what S8N just said, but I beat him to it. And I said it in simpler terms. Except for the "~" for the console...

Holy mangled sentences Batman. Is that a BabbleFish translation from another language Simon? "How can I make my name different" is all I could get out of that.
You can make your name different by going into player setup and changing it, pulling down the console ("~" key by default) and typing "/name <your new name here>", or pulling down the console and typing "/menu setup_funname". The last obe allows you make the fancy colors and whatnot. Enjoy!

It's poorly constructed and unlit, but spark.bsp should be good for practice. Or you can just play on one of the hundreds of *ice*.bsp maps.

As you can see from his e-mail account, he is German....
So it's slightly like loialesse (or something like that ;))

For those too lazy to press the CTRL key and F at the same time... here are maps from the maps download page:
icecap.bsp
icecold.bsp
icepond.bsp
icepond2.bsp
icewar.bsp
theice.bsp
theice2.bsp
theice3.bsp
I cannot confirm that any or all of these have ice, but I know spark.bsp and arctic2.bsp have "ice" surfaces as well.

Thanks, dont confuse lazyness with stupidity :)

I can't either. it sucks ;D
